SIM1

Space Interferometry Mission
The SIM project at JPL is designed to use optical interferometry in space to “determine the positions and distances of stars several hundred times more accurately than any previous program.”
“[This allows SIM] to probe nearby stars for Earth-sized planets.” More details at http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/SIM/whatIsSIM/. I currently do electrical design and software for SIM and SIM-related testbeds at NASA / JPL in Pasadena, CA.
